The thoughts, musings, and comments of a cis-gendered, able-bodied, heterosexual black man on privilege, oppression, & social justice. I go by JB.
I wish to be ANTI. Anti racism, anti sexism, anti heterosexism and homophobia, anti ableism, anti transphobia, anti fat phobia, anti patriarchy, anti kyriarchy.
ANTI also somewhat describes what I am. An Alternative Negro Type…I? (Not sure what to do with the I. But I like the first 3. I’m also a committed Secular Humanist and a huge nerd.
“Not being racist is not some default starting position. You don’t simply get to say you’re not a racist; not being racist — or a sexist or a homophobe — is a constant, arduous process of unlearning, of being uncomfortable, of eating crow and being humbled and re-evaluating. It’s probably hard to start that process if you’ve been told that every thought you have is golden and should be given voice, and that people who are offended by what you say are hypersensitive simpletons.” -G.D. of PostBourgie.com
